If you already have diabetes, then being overweight can make the condition worse, even causing you to become resistant to insulin. This means you will have to take more insulin to control the condition and you'll have a higher chance of experiencing complications.

Chronic back pain: The more weight you carry, the more stress that's put on your back. This can lead to chronic back pain. It also increases the chances that you will permanently injure your back.

While dieting and exercise is a great place to start, it may not always be that easy. There may be underlying conditions that are contributing to your inability to lose weight.
